What is a DBS certificate?
The Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) helps employers make safer recruitment decisions and prevent unsuitable people from working with vulnerable groups, including children.
For how long is a DBS certificate valid?
A DBS certificate has no official expiry date. Any information included will be accurate at the time the check was carried out. At Tutorfair we accept all DBS certificates from within the last 3 years. You can use the DBS Update Service to keep the certificate up to date for a yearly fee (rather than paying for a new certificate)
Do I need a valid DBS certificate to be a tutor on Tutorfair?
You don’t currently need a DBS certificate to tutor with Tutorfair, but we strongly recommend that all of our tutors have them. Clients feel much more comfortable with tutors who are DBS checked, and many will expect it as standard.
How can I apply for a DBS?
If you don’t have a recent Enhanced DBS Check then don’t worry, you can apply for one through Tutorfair.
Please email firstname.lastname@example.org with your full name and email address and we will send you an online form from our DBS provider "Onfido". You can then enter your details and make payment for the certificate.
Please note: in order for your application to be processed, you are required to show originals of supporting documents to us in person. This is best done by attending a verification event, or visiting our offices in Central London.
