How do I ask for travel/ other expenses? Or offer a reduced rate?

Last Updated: Jul 27, 2016 10:48AM BST

There will some instances where you might want to offer a rate to a client that is different to your headline price. E.g.

Higher: if there is additional preparation/ travel involved with the lesson

Lower: if you would like to offer a discount for a particular client

This is done through using the "suggest lesson" feature from your message thread.

Let's take a look at how to do it...

1. Click "suggest lesson"

This brings up your existing lessons, which will be priced at your headline rate

2. Add new lesson

Creating a new lesson for a client means you can offer them a custom price.

Once you've made the new time slot, click save to add it to the message thread.

Alternatively, you can select a lesson that is already in your calendar.

3. Change price

The lesson now appears as normal, however if you need to amend the price, you can do so be clicking the "change price" button, and then saving the new amount that the client pay

4. Send message

Once you save, and type up your message, you can send it off as normal for your client to book.

As with all lessons that you suggest through the message thread, the lesson will be reserved for that client, and so won't be visible on your public profile

This means only Lucy K will be able to get this QTS Numeracy lesson at a discount rate!

5.  Save this "Custom Price"

If Annabel wants Lucy K to pay the same price every time, she'll need to save a "Custom Price" for her by using the tool on the left hand menu.  Now whenever Lucy books a lesson or looks at Annabel's profile she'll see the new price!
